Silent Movie Night

My wife, Marion, is amazing! She routinely comes up with ideas out of left field and then somehow pulls them off, organizing creative and unique events that are fun for our family and our friends lucky enough to get an invite. In the past she has put together a Kid's Day party at our house, where all of Brodie and Nik's friends were invited over for a day of backyard games. The boy's birthday parties have always been creative affairs that are more about games than presents.

Last night she pulled off silent movie night in our outdoor backyard theater. We rented a digital projector and used it to show some downloaded movies on our laptop against the side of our house in our backyard. We invited three other families to come over and watch Buster Keaton, Fatty Arbuckle and Our Gang in our make-shift theater. They brought their own chairs and blankets, and we provided the desserts, hot drinks and a roaring fire in our fire pit.

Leave it to Marion to produce a family fun, community-building occasion like this!

Nik's First Soccer Game

Here's action from Nik's first soccer game with AYSO. The Atoms played against the Jets in a match-up of tiny titans. Check out the action.

U6 Soccer (for 4 and 5 year olds) is not about winning the game, but learning skills and getting a taste of the game. All of the boys played really hard and had a great time, which makes them all winners.
